James Johnson, 27

ANZA —— James “Jimmy” Joseph Johnson, 27, died Monday, June 20,2005, in Palm Springs.

Born Aug. 2, 1977, in Riverside, he lived in Anza for 23 years.He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1996.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his girlfriend, Stephanie Neuman ofAnza; mother, Sandra Goodwin of Prescott, Ariz.; father, JimJohnson of Anza; son, Jared Johnson of San Bernardino; brothersMatthew Goodwin and Michael Goodwin, both of Prescott; and sister,Amy Johnson of San Diego.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. and funeral service at10 a.m. Monday, June 27, at Anza Baptist Church. Interment willfollow at 2 p.m. at Menifee Valley Memorial Park in Sun City.

Eugene Jasperson, 81

SUN CITY —— Eugene Jasperson, 81, died Monday, June 20, 2005, ofnatural causes.

He was born July 23, 1923, in Albert Lea, Minn. He was a memberof the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of theElks Lodge, the Shriners, the Masons, the Eagle Lodge, the MooseLodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post595. He was a divisional manager for I.D.S./American ExpressFinancial. He enjoyed skydiving.

Mr. Jasperson is survived by his wife, Marilyn Jasperson of SunCity; sons Steven I. Jasperson of Stockton and Barry E. Jaspersonof Mission Viejo; daughter, Pamela Raye Tappan of Capistrano Beach;sisters Ilene Conklin and Sybil Jordahl, both of Grass Valley; andgrandchildren Kyle, Kory, Kerry, Sean, Brandon and Kimberly.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, June 27, atthe American Legion Post 595 in Perris. A private cremation isplanned.

Maury Hornsby, 87

OCEANSIDE – Maury Hornsby, 87, died Thursday, June 23, 2005, atTri-City Medical Center of cancer.

Born May 3, 1918, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, helived in Oceanside for 22 years. He retired in 1967 from automotiveparts sales and service. He coached Little League, baseball andbasketball. He was with the Provincial Police in Canada for fiveyears. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He enjoyedplaying golf.

Mr. Hornsby was preceded in death by his first wife, SophiaHornsby, on Aug. 19, 1974. He is survived by his wife of 17 years,Naomi Dixon Hornsby of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Barry andJanice Hornsby of Eugene, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law Roberta andTom Hillestad of Coburg, Ore.; brother Frank Hornsby of Victoria,British Columbia, Canada; sister and brother-in-law Florence andHarold Tomlinson of Fallbrook; grandchildren Lori, Michael andHeather; and seven great-grandchildren.

No services will be held at the request of the deceased.

The family suggests donations to Tri-City Hospice, 2095 W. VistaWay, Suite 101, Vista, CA 92083.

Jean Buhl, 86

ESCONDIDO – Jean D. Buhl, 86, died Thursday, June 23, 2005.

Born Nov. 2, 1918, in New Jersey, she lived in Escondido for 20years.

Mrs. Buhl was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Buhl,in 1993. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charlesand Donna Buhl of San Diego; and granddaughter Sheila MichelleZavodny.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 27,at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Mary Craig, 89

OCEANSIDE – Mary Marcie Craig, 89, died Friday, June 24, 2005,at her home.

Born Jan. 25, 1916, in Luzerne, Pa., she lived in Oceanside for45 years. She retired in 1972 from Hughes Aircraft, where sheworked in vacuum tube production. She was a member of theLighthouse Christian Church. She enjoyed handcrafts andtraveling.

Mrs. Craig is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joe M. Craigof Oceanside; stepsons Joe M. Craig of La Grange and James D. Craigof Spring Valley; daughter Shirley Craig Kennerly of El Cajon;eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and onegreat-great-grandchild.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June28, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside with the Rev.Richard Miller officiating.

The family suggests donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. CrestSt., Escondido, CA 92025.

James Knight, 82

ESCONDIDO – James Weldon Knight, 82, died Saturday, June 18,2005.

Born Sept. 3, 1922, in Sandwich, Ill., he lived in San DiegoCounty for 60 years. He retired in 1985 as a truck driver. Heserved in the U.S. Army during World War II under George PattonCompany A-282 D in the Engineer Combat Battalion.

He enjoyed hand carved model airplanes and swimming.

Mr. Knight is survived by his wife, Emma Knight of Escondido;daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer Knight of Chula Vista, Elizabethand Charles Evans of Imperial Beach and Deborah and Gary Flan of LaMesa; sons and daughters-in-law Jonathan and Lynette of San Diego,Andrew and Marcy of Escondido, Raynand and Irma of Escondido andLouis Edwardo and Patricia Loya; 13 grandchildren; and fourgreat-grandchildren.

Private family services are planned.

Lolaree Byberg, 95

FALLBROOK – Lolaree A. Byberg, 95, died Thursday, June 23,2005.

Born Sept. 1, 1909, in Hopkins County, Texas, she lived inFallbrook for eight years. She was a bookkeeper for constructionfirms for 30 years. She attended nursing school at GlendaleAdventist Hospital. She was a member of the Fallbrook Seventh-dayAdventist Church. She enjoyed reading, music and telling a goodstory.

Mrs. Byberg was preceded in death by her first husband, ClarenceC. Bergman, in 1976; and second husband Jonas Byberg in 1985.

She is survived by her sons, Donald C. Bergman of Fallbrook andRaymond L. Bergman of Walnut Creek; daughter Maxine Nicola ofFallbrook; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today, June 26, atMaxine Nicola’s residence in Fallbrook with the Revs. Gerald Jonesand Ulisese Mataafo officiating. Call (760) 728-8929 fordirections. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday, June 27, at ForestLawn Memorial Park in Cypress.

Cameron F. Bremseth

Cameron F. Bremseth, father of Charles and Marianne Bremseth,departed this life peacefully at his home in Carlsbad, Calif., onJune 20, 2005, at 87 years of age.

Cameron was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, September 6, 1917, theyoungest of five children. He graduated from Leeds High School andattended Mayville State Teachers College, Mayville, N.D.,graduating in 1938. He received his master’s degree in 1948 and hisPh.D. at Columbia University in New York in 1954. He taught atGoddard College in Vermont, Hunter and Pratt in New York City, andGeorgia State Teachers College in Statesboro, Ga. He was aneducator at heart.

Cameron enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve in 1942 andserved aboard the USS Arkansas and the USS Louisville during WorldWar II serving in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He marriedAnne Dunleavy on February 7, 1945, at St. Stephen’s Church ofHungary in New York City.

He started a federal government career as a foreign serviceofficer with the U.S. Department of State. His wife and familyaccompanied him on his many overseas assignments from 1954 to 1979,living in Iran, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand and Pakistan. Hewas also sent on special assignments to Yugoslavia, Indonesia,Bangladesh and France. Upon retiring from the government, Anne andCameron moved to Carlsbad, Calif., where they spent the remainderof their 58 years of marriage together.

Cameron was active in the VFW, and he was a member of BeautifulSaviour Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlsbad, Calif.

Cameron was preceded in death by his beloved Anne Bremseth; hisparents, Claude and Clara Heiber; brother Sonny; and sister Leila(Fox) of Leeds, N.D.; brothers Curtis Bremseth of Devils Lake,N.D., Roy Bremseth of Amegaard, N.D., and Lloyd Bremseth fromGonvik, Minn. He is survived by his son, Charles Bremseth and wifeJulie of Argyle, Minn.; daughter Marianne Bremseth and partner DaveRowbotham of La Mesa, Calif.; three grandchildren: Christopher,Brandon and Michael Bremseth; and five great-grandchildren.

Ada Jane Long, 87

OCEANSIDE — Ada Jane Long passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2005,at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside after a brief illness.

Ada was born in Buhl, Idaho, on October 5, 1917. She waspreceded in death by her first husband, Glen Boodry, in 1940, andher second husband, Benjamin F. Long in 2001; granddaughter KristaA. Madsen in 2003; son-in-law Choice Stone in 1995; brothers Franz”Frank” and Carl Fredenhagen; and sister Bertha Giles.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Stone of Oceanside,Fred Boodry (Charla) of Carlsbad and Deborah K. Long of San Diego;grandchildren Tally Stone (Beverly) of Puyallup, Wash., Lance Stone(Debbie) of Vista and Glen Boodry of Carlsbad; great-grandchildrenTodd and Chase Stone of Washington, Ashley and Carrie Stone andLaurel, Blair and Logan Madsen, all of Vista; a brother, MikeFredenhagen of Bend, Ore.; and a sister, Thommen (Clyde) of Keizer,Ore.

In 1943, Ada moved to Oceanside to work for the telephonecompany and retired in 1964. She and her husband, Ben, lived inCarlsbad for 30 years and lived briefly in Aumsville, Ore., andWildomar, Calif., before spending the last 15 years at Emerald LakeVillage in Oceanside.

She was beloved by many and will be dearly missed.

There will be a gravesite inurnment at Eternal Hills at a laterdate.

Arrangements are being handled by North County Cremation Servicein San Marcos.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the SusanG. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Research Program, 5005 LBJFreeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244, in memory of hergranddaughter.

Miriam Currie, 86

SAN MARCOS – Miriam Barker Currie, 86, died Monday, June 13,2005, in Las Villas Del Norte.

Born Jan. 11, 1919, in Evanston, Ill., she lived in San Marcosfor 22 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Delta GammaSorority, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyedbridge and golf.

Mrs. Currie is survived by her husband of 63 years, James EdwardCurrie of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law Jim and CeCe Currieof Roanoke, Va.; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Tom La Buda ofRancho Bernardo and Suzy and Mike Backes of Seattle; sister BettyNagel of Milwaukee; grandchildren Tommy, Diane, Michael, Jenni,Jac, Matt and Doug; and one great-grandson.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, atRecreation Lodge at Lake San Marcos, 1105 La Bonita Drive.Interment will be at St. James Lutheran Church, 1380 Waukegan Roadin Lake Forest, Ill.

The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s ResearchCenter, 1619 Via Brisa del Lago, Lake San Marcos, CA 92069.
