Working from home the other day I realised I had a craving for homemade lemonade. I became lost in a daydream of the American image of families setting up a stand on their front porch to sell their lemonade. Kitsch yes. But I love homemade lemonade. It is refreshing, quenches your thirst and depending how sweet you like it, good for you.Now I didn’t have enough lemons to make lemonade so I compromised and made some homemade Vitamin Water to enjoy the next day. Here is the very simple recipe I used-🍋 A jug of cold water🍋 Add to this lemon juice and the peels from one or two lemons🍋 Add in lime juice and the peels (if you like it citrusy) from one lime🍋 Muddle in some mint sprigs🍋 Pop it in the fridge overnight and enjoy a tasty, antioxidant, vitamin C filled, collagen boosting cold vitamin drink the next day.You are welcome.Ildiko#Lemons #VitaminC #Antioxidant

    Did you know that 99% of our thoughts today are the same as the ones you had yesterday. Doesn’t that sound utterly boring?Let’s break the cycle. Let’s stick a pin in routine and leave it there. Let’s give our mind time to soar by challenging ourselves to try the new - do you really go on holiday and eat fish and chips? Will you drink the local beverage or opt for the mass produced option?Let the new ideas and experiences in. Let them float and balloon. It will impact so positively on your mental strength and health. Go somewhere totally new on your holidays this year, somewhere off the grid maybe? Learn a new skill. Visit somewhere that isn’t a beach or a resort - go native.Embracing the unfamiliar is an essential part of holidaying.     Holidays - pitched as the ultimate time to relax and recharge. A time to kick back, read a book, sunbathe and swim. Meh, not for me. Not for a lot of people. In fact, for many, the thought of going on holiday is stressful.What will we do all day? What if I don’t like the food? Where can I go when I am there? What if I get bored?So many questions and so many things you have to do. Be present. Be friendly. Try all the food. Try a new activity. Don’t look at your phone. Don’t, don’t, do, do. Fun much? No.Holidays are about making memories to look back on fondly in the future, and this can be achieved without onerous planning. Easy bucket fillers - watch a sunset or sunrise. Simply put your feet in the sand and feel the connection to the earth - it is honestly so relaxing. Sit on the balcony at midnight and listen to the sounds around you.Fill your bucket with what you enjoy, not with what your friends do, what social media tells you to post about - what makes you genuinely happy?If this is a mountain climb, fill your bucket with as many mountains as you can find.If this is eating tapas at two and sleeping til 5, fill your bucket.If this is exploring a city and going nowhere near a beach, fill your bucket.Holidays and time out from the office is essential for good mental health and for mental strength. At times of stress and overwhelm you can call on these memories and they will calm your mind, you are creating your own robust memory bank of calm.Fill your Bucket!#HappyHolidays #Sunrise #Sunset

    What is your preferred me time activity? Or are you cringing at the very term ‘me time’ ?However you label it - taking time out each day to do something, not even the same thing each day, that brings you joy, that gives you a sense of calm or distraction from the hum drum should be praised. You are good at being you and recognising your own mental wellbeing is important.For those who aren’t building this time in or are just not sure what ‘me time’ could possibly be, fret not, this is not another plan to take up time or be ‘instaworthy’ it is simply what you do best.🧠 When you walk up the stairs, stop twice per day and do some calf stretches and feel the resulting release in your feet and lower back. Me time.🧠 Take a shower at lunchtime and revive, refresh and invigorate. Me time.🧠 Have a nap! Grab your favourite rug and in 20 to 30 minutes you will get all the benefits of refreshment and positivity. Ultimate me time.🧠 And if all else fails, pop this one in, 3 deep breathes. Focus on nothing but that and you will be surprised how good that makes you feel.#MeTime #TakeTime #MentalWellbeing

    Most folk take time off in August and ‘go’ on holiday. Going on holiday is great - we all love a break from the routine. But have you tried ‘being’ on holiday?Being on holiday is not just going on holiday. It is BEING present. In order to do this, you need to prepare:🏖️ Assign someone to cover your holiday at work and walk away knowing all is left with a safe pair of hands.🏖️ Put that out of office on and clearly signpost who to contact and be realistic with expectations on contact from you on your return.🏖️ Don’t book your first day back with meetings before you leave - allow yourself to reacclimatise to work.🏖️ Your phone - if you can, remove or immobilise work apps. You don’t switch off if you can see updates.🏖️ Start reducing your phone usage before you go - some people need to practice not using their phone all day - that is most certainly not ‘being’ on holiday.     I know it isn’t Wednesday Work From Home Zone Day, but I wanted to muse on this important theme a little more. How do you shut down for your annual leave when you work from home and your desk, office equipment etc are all within your living areas?If you aren’t going away on a staycation or abroad but just spending time at home, how do you ensure you get that complete break from work?In June I shared the quote “Am I working from home or living at work?” (Linda Nancy) and it rings so many bells for me. Is it really possible to shut off completely when you can physically see your desk in the background night and day? Is the energy in your room focussed onto that work area? How can you shut off and unwind totally when you have cumbersome office equipment in your social spaces?I don’t have all the answers to this one, because we all have to make do and do our best to be present at home and work and, let’s be honest, make it a little easy on ourselves - we don’t want to build a desk each day do we?But how can we maximise the shut off and really embrace the summer holidays this year? My suggestion is tidy space, tidy mind and creating a physical boundary. Simple covering up your laptop can play that ‘out of sight, out of mind’ trick on your brain and that is a quick, cheap win. Making the space tidy is also pleasing and calming. Don’t leave post its, pens, notebooks out, pack them away (theme here, out of sight etc 😀👀 This is also a great physical and mental activity to shut down and close off before your leave.If you have anymore helpful tips, please share with others ⬇️ and most of all, enjoy your holidays this year ⛱️🩴#SummerHolidays #WorkingFromHomeTips #OutOfSightOutOfMind

    Your mental health matters. Practicing self-care and maintaining a healthy work life balance when working from home is essential.Overworking is common when you can easily get back to your home desk but don’t let it drag you back in. You deserve a break and to ‘un-blur’ those boundaries between personal and professional time.Just remember, it is OK to step away. It is OK to have regular breaks. It is OK to use self-care to stay balanced and at your very best.So challenge set, in August try scheduling in short breaks into your work day.
