This 1978 Porsche 911SC has undergone extensive refurbishment and modification by Backyard Legends of Concord, North Carolina, evoking the style of a 911 RSR. Finished in Golf Blue over a tan leatherette upholstery, this example is powered by a twin-plug 2.8-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Modifications include backdated exterior elements, fiberglass RSR-style front body components, steel rear fender flares, individual throttle body fuel injection, a coil-on-plug ignition system, custom exhaust components, adjustable Bilstein coilovers, 15" Fuchs-style wheels, Braum seats, RS-style door panels, a MOMO steering wheel, a WEVO shifter, and more. Benefitting from over $52k in work completed by Patrick Motorsports as of 2024, this modified 911SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona with approximately 380 miles driven since completion. In 2018, this 911SC underwent a refinish in Golf Blue, accompanied by the installation of a sunroof filler panel and a fiberglass backdated long hood nose, RSR-style front fenders, RSR-style bumpers, and a ducktail rear decklid. Additional features include yellow Bosch H4 headlights with chrome trim rings, steel rear fender flares, black Carrera and Porsche graphics, a left-side mirror, rubber hood and decklid tie-downs, black horn grilles, and twin central exhaust outlets. Under current ownership, the vehicle received repair and touch-up of the front bumper cover, modification of the rear bumper for exhaust system clearance, removal and reinstallation of the windshield, re-keying of the door lock cylinders, repair of the left-rear window mechanism, and replacement of the door check straps and fuel door release cable. It rides on aftermarket 15" Maxilite Fuchs-style wheels wrapped in Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires sized 205/50 front and 225/50 rear, respectively. The seller notes minor rock chips on the rear flares and underside of the front bumper, detailed images are provided in the gallery. The cabin underwent modifications featuring Braum bucket seats upholstered in tan leatherette, complemented by RS-style door panels and rear side panels in matching tones. Equipment includes a leather-wrapped MOMO Prototip steering wheel, WEVO shifter, front lap belts, an Alcantara-wrapped dashboard, and a rear seat-delete insert along with a rebuilt speedometer, clock, and instrumentation. Current ownership actions encompassed shortening the lap belts, securing the MoTeC ECU to the right floor, and replacing the toe board, pedal pads, pedal stop bushings, and door check straps. The ignition switch was also replaced, although the seller notes an inoperative heater and the absence of sun visors.Bored out to 2.8 liters from a 2.7-liter 1972 Porshce 911S case, the twin-plug flat-six engine delivers power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Reportedly built by Bowman Vintage Restoration of Hickory, North Carolina, the engine boasts 10:1 compression pistons, a polished and balanced crankshaft from Custom Crankshaft Repair, Mahle cylinders, JB ported cylinder heads, a custom Web Cam Inc. camshaft, and Aasco 9mm valve springs and titanium retainers. Additional equipment includes Jenvey Dynamics individual throttle-body fuel injection, MoTeC M84 engine management, LS coil packs with custom brackets and Clewett wires, custom stainless-steel headers, and Magnaflow mufflers. Recent maintenance encompasses securing the fresh air ducts, repairing the wiring, revising the ECU tuning and throttle linkage, adding an oxygen sensor to the exhaust system, relocating the oil cooler, and replacing the fuel tank, alternator fan, battery mounting hardware, fuel lines, and oil cooler hoses. Previous modifications, undertaken before current ownership, included fitting adjustable Bilstein coilovers, Tarett Engineering drop links, adjustable torsion bars, and braided stainless-steel brake hoses. Work performed after the owner's acquisition involved fitting 964 "big piston" front and rear calipers, wheel spacers, replacement Eibach springs, a 22mm hollow front anti-sway bar, and RSR-specification front strut mounts, as well as reinstalling assorted suspension components and replacing the rear brake rotors, suspension hardware, front control arms, rear trailing arms, and steering rack boots.
